The 'Glow your own Way' Art Festival in Gorleston will be illuminated by the stunning creations of local pupils who attended a workshop exploring the art of stained glass production.

The workshop was held at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy on Thursday 7th December and saw pupils from several year groups come together to learn various techniques and produce beautiful pieces of art. These pieces of art will be displayed at the Lydia Eva Care Home as part of the town's event in January 2024.

Renowned artist Jennie Pedley led the workshop and shared her expertise and passion for stained glass with the pupils. Pedley emphasised the importance of art in bringing communities together and encouraged the pupils to use their creativity to improve the area in which they live. The pupils, ranging from ages 10 to 16, were enthusiastic about the workshop and committed to producing their best work. They spent hours perfecting their designs and mastering the techniques that Pedley introduced them to. The end results were breathtaking, with each piece of art showcasing the unique style and creativity of the individual pupil.

Karen Jeremiah, the Programme Manager for Freshly Greated, commissioned the visiting artist to work with the academy and contribute to the light festival. She expressed her delight with the success of the workshop and the quality of the art produced by the pupils. The workshop is a testament to the power of art in bringing communities together and inspiring others to take up art and contribute to the town's future events.

The pupils are thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to their community by providing their work to Lydia Eva Care Home. They hope that their creations will bring joy to the residents and visitors alike and inspire others to take up art and contribute to the town's future events. The workshop was a huge success, not just in terms of the quality of the art produced, but also in the way it brought the pupils together and fostered a sense of community and pride in their town.

Lisa Utting, the Care Home Manager, said she is thrilled to have the opportunity to display these stunning pieces of art at their care home. The residents and staff are looking forward to seeing the creations and are grateful to the pupils for their contribution to the community. It is heartwarming to see young people using their talents to make a positive impact and they hope to see more of this in the future.

As the town looks forward to the 'Glow your own Way' event in January 2024, the pupils' work will undoubtedly be a highlight of the festival, showcasing the immense talent and creativity of the young people of Gorleston.
